Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly experienced Data Science leader with a background in Data Mining and Model development, deployment and ongoing monitoring and maintenance to take on the role of Director, Data Science. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Data Science and Products, the successful candidate will be someone who not only can drive efficient execution of predictive models that deliver successful marketing and business programs, but can also build and maintain strong internal team to lead the application of Data Science and Modeling to the next level at The Organization. What you’ll be doing:

Developing, enhancing and operating the Data Science platform
o Building and maintaining an expanding set of predictive models in support of our marketing, customer intelligence and personalization strategies – built by your team, and applied through your leadership and experience
o Developing analytics integrated with Enterprise Personalization and Data Mining solutions using the best practices and the latest developments in the industry
o Collaborating with Strategic Insights, Marketing, Sales, BI and other peer teams within Data & Analytics in the development and deployment of the predictive models across the business
o Monitoring the model performance and making ongoing corrections by executing extensive model testing strategies
o Leveraging data driven solutions including Predictive, Lookalike Models, Propensity, Campaign Response models and Clustering models that make the best use of the wealth of Audience, Advertiser, Customer, and Channel information available across business units, channels and care and marketing platforms

Leading the Data Science & Advanced Modeling team
o Coaching on best practice and offering insights to team and stakeholders on how to best leverage Data Science capabilities
o Collaborating with IT Infrastructure teams in monitoring and capacity planning of the environment ensuring ongoing stability

• Knack for zooming into the detail but adept at avoiding the trap of getting stuck in them
• Production experience implementing Predictive, Lookalike and Clustering models for Customer Response, Acquisition, Retention and Upsell
• Expertise with successfully building machine learning algorithms in Hadoop and with leveraging data visualization tools such as Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, and SAS Visual Statistics
• Excellent understanding of the underlying Statistical, Machine Learning theory and Predictive Modeling Lifecycle
• Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, working with internal business clients

Experience differentiators:

o Quantitative degree in fields such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field, Masters degree preferred
o Minimum 5 years of Predictive Model Development, Data Mining, Applied Statistics, Database Marketing or Machine Learning experience
o Minimum 3 years of production experience with SAS, with specific experience in one or more of the following modules: Base, SAS/STAT, SAS/ACCESS, Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner
o Advanced SAS programming skills for data preparation, analysis and modeling, including the use of macros, program efficiency improvement and program automation.
o Experience with open source Data Mining frameworks would be an asset - R, Spark ML, TensorFlow, or equivalent
o Expert-level SQL querying skills, including production experience
o Demonstrated expertise in working with large modeling data sets
o Intermediate programming or scripting skills: Java, JavaScript, Python or equivalent
o Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and storytelling skills
o Production Experience with Big Data technology stack and No-SQL databases would be an asset, including Pig, Hive, HBase, Cassandra and other components
